Let me share a story with you.

Meet Alex, a 35-year-old working professional who is responsible, diligent, and a workaholic. He thought he deserved a break when he started a new job and began watching web series. At first, he spent 2–3 hours a day, but the addiction slowly took over, and he ended up staying up all night watching them. His lack of proper rest weakened him, affected his concentration, and ultimately impacted his professional and personal life.

The first step is realization. It’s important to understand that excessive entertainment consumption can negatively impact our personal and professional lives.


Preparation is key. It’s unlikely that you’ll be able to stop your addiction in just a day or two, so take some time to track your entertainment usage. Do this for at least a week and keep your observations nearby to stay aware of patterns and habits.

Start small when making changes. Reduce your entertainment time by one hour initially and gradually reduce it further. Use the time you save, such as getting proper rest. Remember, every step counts towards overcoming addiction.

Alternative methods

Reducing addiction requires finding alternative methods. It’s crucial to choose techniques that align with our interests. While we have many options, it’s best to select a favourite and stick with it until freedom from addiction is achieved.

Here are some suggestions:

  1. Play your favourite tracks:- Start listening to your favourite channels by playing your favourite tracks.

  2. Talk to friends and family:- To strengthen your connections with friends, try talking to them instead of just texting. Consider giving them a call instead of always relying on written communication. Meeting new people and having at least one conversation with them each month i

  1. Reading or Podcast:- If you want to expand your knowledge and boost your confidence, reading or listening to podcasts can be great options. Reading helps you gain knowledge and satisfaction, but listening to podcasts can be just as beneficial if you’re not a fan of reading. A good podcast can be just as helpful as reading.

  2. Exercise:- Maintaining good health is crucial, so exercising regularly and adopting healthy eating habits is essential. Consider starting with activities like meditation, yoga or other sports to engage your body, provided you’re ready.

  3. Discover a new hobby:- Exploring different hobbies can bring a fresh outlook to life. Consider writing, singing, dancing, acting, or even inventing something new. There are endless possibilities to pursue under the sky.

  4. Volunteering:- Consider joining a non-profit organization as a volunteer to support our society. This will help us become more humane and socially responsible individuals.

  5. Travelling:- Start exploring nature, trekking to nearby places and setting travelling goals for your selves.

  6. Networking:- To achieve tremendous success in your professional life, it’s essential to network and make new connections. Take the time to talk to the people around you and share your knowledge with others. This can help you reach new heights in your career.
